SpikeStixx by CounterSpike are single-use drink testing strips designed to detect the presence of certain drugs commonly used in drink spiking. They are one of several prevention measures alongside education, training, looking after your friends and drink covers.

How do I use SpikeStixx to test my drink?

Twist the cap off the tube, remove a strip, dab your finger in your drink and apply the sample to the yellow area of the strip. If the yellow turns dark orange within about 5 seconds, the drink may be spiked and you should not drink it.

Which drugs do SpikeStixx test for?

SpikeStixx detect GHB and a range of amine-containing substances, including ketamine, Rohypnol, amphetamine, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, LSD, ecstasy (MDMA) and opium. No over-the-counter test can detect every drug.

How long does a SpikeStixx drink spike test take?

The whole test takes under 30 seconds, with a colour result showing in about 5 seconds of applying the drink.

How accurate are drink spike test strips?

No at-home test is 100% accurate. SpikeStixx give a rapid indication of possible spiking and can give false positives with orange-coloured drinks such as coffee or orange juice. If you feel unwell or suspect spiking, even after a negative test, tell venue staff, a trusted friend or the police and seek medical help.

SpikeStixx are produced with a 30-year-old UK medical diagnostics business that made most of the UK-manufactured Covid tests and has received the King's Award for Enterprise for innovation.
